A well-established distributor in the footwear industry is seeking a detail-driven Operational Accountant to join their finance team in Germiston. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, retail-driven environment and enjoys improving systems and processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise Accounts Payable and assist with Accounts Receivable
• Review and approve financial transactions for accuracy and compliance
• Manage creditor reconciliations and resolve escalations
• Compile and submit VAT returns
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register and perform asset accounting
• Prepare financial reports and perform variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with SARS, VAT, and tax regulations
• Assist with stock takes and inventory processes
• Support internal and external audits
• Participate in system implementations and finance projects

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Accounting or relevant qualification
• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience in retail or distribution environment advantageous, but is not required
• Experience working on multiple accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills
