The UCT Lung Institute is looking for a Research Support Worker to screen and support trial participants and foster positive working relationships with clinic staff and participants in the Retreat, Seawinds, Grassy Park, Pelican Park, Lotus River, Lavender Hill subdistricts.
 
This role is offered under the University of Cape Town Lung Institute’s own employment terms and conditions, which are separate from UCT conditions of service. 

⭐ What you bring:

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
• Experience in a clinic environment
• Sound knowledge of recruiting area
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology – especially TB and HIV
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Afrikaans will be an advantage.
• Must be able to work as part of a team
• Able to work overtime to ensure participant safety and maintain the integrity of research studies
• Open minded and always willing to learn

You'll play an important role in supporting TB research through accurate participant screening, recruitment, and community engagement.
 
🎯 What you’ll own:

• Recruit and screen potential participants.
• Assist with the informed consent process.
• Support participant retention and follow-up.
• Provide education on TB, HIV and clinical research.
• Support TB medication adherence and DOTS activities.
• Conduct home visits when required.
• Report missed doses, side effects and participant concerns.
• Maintain accurate participant records and recruitment data.
• Liaise with clinic staff and the research team.
• Attend training, meetings and outreach activities.
• Perform other research-related duties as required.

• Monday to Friday | 35 hours per week
