The UCT Lung Institute is looking for a pharmacist to support the day-to-day operation of the Research Pharmacy and ensure the safe, accurate and compliant management of investigational products in accordance with applicable pharmacy and clinical trial requirements.
 
This role is offered under the University of Cape Town Lung Institute’s own employment terms and conditions, which are separate from UCT conditions of service.

⭐ What you bring:

• 1–2 years’ relevant clinical trial experience.
• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.)
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate.
• Human Subjects Protection (HSP) certificate.
• Professional Indemnity cover.
• Knowledge of Pharmacy Acts

🎯 What you’ll own:

• Manage investigational products from receipt to dispensing and return.
• Ensure safe and compliant storage of study medication.
• Dispense medication according to study protocols.
• Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
• Monitor stock levels, expiry dates and storage conditions.
• Support pharmacy regulatory and clinical trial compliance.
• Assist with participant randomisation and blinding procedures.
• Maintain pharmacy equipment and calibration records.
• Support audits and address pharmacy-related findings.
• Provide pharmacy-related training to relevant staff.
• Liaise with research teams and study stakeholders.
• Attend relevant meetings and training.
• Perform other research-related duties as required.

📍 Role Information:

• Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)
• Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
• Based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town
