Make a direct contribution to clinical research by providing specialised clinical procedures and supporting the safe and effective delivery of asthma and COPD clinical trials within the Allergy and Immunology Unit.
 
The UCT Lung Institute is looking for a Lung Technician to join the Allergy and Immunology Unit, where they will perform clinical procedures, support clinical trial activities, manage study-related data and documentation, and contribute to the quality and safety of research activities.
 
This role is offered under the University of Cape Town Lung Institute’s own employment terms and conditions, which are separate from UCT conditions of service.

⭐ What you bring:

• Clinical Technologist qualification
• HPCSA registration in Pulmonology
• Valid GCP certification
• 2+ years’ clinical trial or relevant experience
• Knowledge of asthma/COPD and clinical research
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Valid driver’s licence

🎯 What you’ll own:

• Perform spirometry, ECG, vital signs, FENO and DLCO
• Conduct participant screening and study visits
• Support recruitment and participant retention
• Follow study protocols, SOPs and GCP requirements
• Maintain participant files, study documents and site files
• Capture study data and resolve queries
• Monitor protocol deviations and support quality control
• Maintain equipment, supplies and laboratory records
• Liaise with investigators, sponsors and study teams
• Support study meetings, training and monitoring visits

📍 Role Information:

• Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)
• Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
• Based in Mowbray and Groote Schuur
