Central Highlands, Gia Lai Province area – Vietnam: Our client is looking for a Corn Farmer to join the team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•  BSc in Agriculture
• Previous experience in growing and drying feed corn
• Must have a keen interest in “regenerative agriculture techniques”
• Somebody who can take ownership, come up with new ideas, and works independently and proactively
• Experience with extension services and training of farmers is an advantage
• Must have knowledge about the drying of feedcorn
• Strong leadership skills and able to motivate team
• Computer literate, strong admin skills, good in problem solving, good interpersonal relationships, must be a good communicator
• Being maintenance/mechanically orientated
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid passport

 RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
 
Corn farming:

• Investigate (and understand) current local corn farming systems
• Propose and test improvements. Proof they work
• Develop a training program, to train 8,000 local corn farmers to
• increase their yield
• lower their cost price
• grow corn in a more sustainable way.
• Get better quality feed corn (well dried, no fungus etc.)
• This includes managing a small team of our own extension staff + also train and inspire government extension staff
• Setting up a R&D and demo farm for corn
• Set up a network of corn demo farms, with carefully selected good local corn farmers, who can be an example to the corn farmers in their region
• Together with the communications team of Fresh Studio, use the power of social media in Vietnam to improve corn farmer production practices

Corn drying:

• Investigate current local corn drying practices of local traders
• Propose and test improvements to get a better-quality dried feed corn
• Train preferred supplier local corn traders.
• Setup one own corn dryer station which will be the benchmark in the whole region of the best managed corn drying station: most efficient, best quality dried corn dryer
