Polokwane Area – Limpopo: A well-established, family-run farming operation is looking for a skilled and hands-on Mushroom Grower to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a sharp eye for detail, technical growing knowledge, and a passion for precision agriculture.

This is a 'LIVE OUT' position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 

• Formal qualifications in agriculture or related fields.
• At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation, with a strong understanding of the entire process (compost making, growing, and harvesting).
• Extensive knowledge of different mushroom varieties and growing conditions.
• Experience in scaling mushroom production for commercial purposes.
• Familiarity with organic or sustainable farming practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to growing, pests, and environmental conditions
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
• Strong communication skills, ability to train and guide team members.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
 

• Prepare and manage the compost process, ensuring optimal conditions for mushroom growth.
• Oversee the entire mushroom growth cycle, from inoculation to fruiting, ensuring healthy yields.
• Implement effective pest and disease management strategies.
• Ensure proper harvesting techniques and post-harvest processes are followed to maintain product quality.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light) and ensure that growing conditions are optimized at all stages.
• Work with the cultivation team to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
