Chingola Area – Zambia: This company is the country’s largest pasture-based operation and one of Zambia largest dairy operations.
 
The successful candidate will be a skilled and energetic person and will be responsible for all aspects associated with ensuring the availability of farm equipment for the operation of a pasture -based dairy farming enterprise with dryland irrigated cropping capabilities.


Due to the accommodation on the farm this position would suit a single person or a couple with no kids.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 

• Technical Qualification acceptable for issuance of Zambian Work Permit.
• Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience on similar agricultural entities with
• traceable references.
• Strong computer skills an advantage
• Experience with Waikato Rotary Milking Platforms would be an added advantage

 
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
 

• Overall responsibility for the productive availability of a range of farm equipment. (John
• Deere, Landini, Vaderstadt, Hardi etc)
• Responsible for performance of the workshop and associated supporting activities.
• Control of workshop and associated staffing
• Liaising with Operations Director to ensure plant availability for the planned land
• preparation, planting / harvesting. The farm currently commits 200 ha maize to be cut and
• ensiled with wholly owned equipment. A further 180 ha maize is harvested -with hired
• equipment, but possibly a newly purchased combine in time for next season. Grain is stored
• in our on-farm silo.
• Will be required to establish and implement planned maintenance schedules of farming
• machinery together with the administrative control aspects all as relate to record keeping
• and reporting.
• Preparing timeous schedules of spare parts to be ordered to keep equipment operational
• and to ensure accurate spares records are maintained.
