Nairobi - Kenya: A leading Kenyan horticultural producer is seeking an experienced Farm Manager – Rose Grower to oversee all field-grown rose operations on a large-scale commercial farm. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manager with strong technical expertise in open-field rose production and the ability to drive high-quality output in a demanding export-focused environment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven experience in field cultivation of roses – essential
  • Exposure to large-scale commercial horticulture, preferably export-orientated
  • Strong practical and technical knowledge of:
    • Rose varieties
    • Crop nutrition & fertigation
    • Integrated pest & disease management
    • Pruning, spacing, and canopy management
  • Experience in managing labour teams in a multicultural environment
  • Strong planning, organisational, and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote farm environment
  • Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture or related field – advantageous
  • Previous expat experience in Africa will be an added advantage
 
 
Key Responsibilities
Rose Production Management
  • Lead and manage all aspects of field rose cultivation, from planting to harvesting.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, crop plans, and seasonal strategies.
  • Monitor plant health, growth cycles, and production performance.
Crop Protection & Quality
  • Oversee IPM programmes to ensure optimal pest and disease control.
  • Maintain strict quality standards to meet premium export requirements.
Team & Labour Management
  • Supervise and train field teams to drive productivity and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with farm protocols, health & safety, and good agricultural practices.
Resource & Infrastructure Oversight
  • Manage irrigation systems, fertigation plans, and field infrastructure.
  • Monitor inputs, usage, and stock levels to ensure cost-effective production.
Reporting & Administration
  • Provide weekly and monthly production reports.
  • Track yields, losses, efficiency metrics, and quality benchmarking.

Farm Manager
