Port Shepstone Area – KwaZulu-Natal: As the primary on-site leader, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining operational excellence while driving business growth in the region. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of a biochar carbon removal venture in South Africa. You will be managing the team on-site, building relationships with local partners and ensuring the plant runs efficiently and safely.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Demonstrated experience in operational management roles.
  • Extensive experience in agricultural, forestry, manufacturing, or industrial operations management
  • Strong understanding of general production processes, quality control, and supply chain management
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in business development and stakeholder management
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Preferred but not essential: Bachelor's degree in Agroforestry related field, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related field.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Oversee daily operations of the biochar production facility, ensuring efficient production processes, quality control, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage end-to-end supply chain operations, including raw material procurement, production scheduling, and product shipment coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers, suppliers, and stakeholders while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the region.
  • Hire, supervise and develop the local team, fostering a positive work culture and ensuring high performance standards.
  • Manage facility maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutions to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations.
