Fort Beaufort Area – Eastern Cape: Seeking an experienced Senior Farm Manager to drive citrus operations. If you are passionate about agriculture and have a strong track record in farm management, we invite you to apply.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Grade 12 with a tertiary qualification in bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in citrus farming or similar agricultural management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of citrus production practices, pest management, and soil health.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in farm management software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in budget management, cost control, and financial management.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Drivers’ License (PDP advantageous)

  • The ability to speak/understand Xhosa is highly advantageous.
  • Ensure tasks timely follow through with close involvement in the processes.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Manage all aspects of citrus farm operations, including the administration and planning required for planting, cultivation, harvesting, and pest management.
  • Develop and implement effective farming strategies to enhance the yield and quality of citrus crops.
  • Monitor and maintain soil health, irrigation systems, and farm equipment.
  • Lead and supervise farm staff, providing training and hands-on guidance to ensure efficient operations.
  • Analyse crop performance data and implement improvements based on findings.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., packhouse, HR, and finance) to align farming practices with business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, SIZA, and GLOBALG.A.P.
  • Setup and management of OPEX budgets, CAPEX, and monitoring expenditures against budget.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in citrus farming.
