Mbazwana area, Northern KwaZulu-Natal (about 30 minutes from Sodwana Bay) – KwaZulu Natal: This is a practical field-based role, suited to someone who can plan, organise, administrate and execute large-scale crop operations, while working closely with local labour, contractors, and specialists.
 
This is a 10-months fixed-term contract position with growth potential.
 
Due to the remote location of the farm this position would suit a single person.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Proven experience managing commercial crop farming (100 ha+) *
  • Strong in administration of farming and finance system.
  • Experience in land preparation, mechanised farming, and workforce coordination
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems on the ground
  • Good planning, record-keeping, and cost awareness
  • Good at working and collaborating in a team
  • Works well with contractors, service providers, local labour, and technical advisors
  • *Cassava experience is an advantage but not essential – strong row-crop or field-crop experience will be considered.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
 
  • Plan and manage the farm expansion from land clearing through to planting and crop establishment
  • Coordinate land preparation, clearing, fencing, and access roads
  • Manage equipment sourcing, contractors, and maintenance
  • Recruit, train, and supervise supervisors and operators.
  • Implement planting, fertilisation, weed and pest control schedules
  • Oversee input sourcing, compliance, and safe storage
  • Work with agronomists on soil health, plant density trials, fertiliser regimes, and cover crops
  • Establish administration & tracking systems for costs and farming.
  • Operate within budget; provide monthly progress and cost reports
  • Ensure environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and workplace safety
  • Liaise with local communities, suppliers, cooperatives, and stakeholders
