Mkushi area, Central Province – Zambia: This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual ready to take full ownership of our row and cereal cropping enterprise within an ever-changing regenerative agriculture (RA) space.

This position is open to candidates with families.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
  • 5 years or more of agricultural experience on a large-scale commercial cropping operation
  • A sound, practical understanding of agronomy across fertilization, irrigation, planting, crop protection
  • and harvesting
  • A high level of self-motivation and a very strong work ethic, with the resilience to perform under
  • sustained seasonal pressure
  • Proven ability to plan, allocate and manage a large labour force
  • Practical mechanical knowledge would be an advantage on the arable side (note: mechanical repairs
  • and equipment maintenance are handled by our full-time workshop manager)
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
 
  • Full agronomic management of our double-season row and cereal cropping production — seed maize,
  • commercial maize, commercial soybeans and wheat, with the possibility of barley and groundnuts
  • Planning and execution of all field operations, including land preparation, planting, fertilization,
  • irrigation and crop protection
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate application of all inputs throughout the season
  • Managing crop harvesting, grading and delivery
  • Forward planning, job allocation and the management of a large labour force (150 permanent and up
  • to 500 casual labourers during peak periods)
  • Organising and coordinating multiple farm operations simultaneously
  • Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to your team members
