This role focuses on project management, technical documentation, and engineering coordination. The ideal candidate has proven experience managing capital projects in heavy industry, with strong technical documentation skills.
Exposure to mining/minerals processing projects is essential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and delivery of slurry pumping projects from kick-off to commissioning.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and manage engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications, manuals, compliance reports).
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams (design, manufacturing, procurement) to ensure project alignment.
  • Design & Drawing: Generate, review and approve technical drawings, P&IDs, and layout designs for slurry pumping systems.
  • Site Execution Support: Coordinate site installations, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities (up to 50% travel).
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Progress Reporting: Track milestones, deliverables, and budgets; report to stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in capital project execution within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering documentation (drawings, manuals, technical reports).
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, GA drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong project coordination skills with familiarity in stage-gate project methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across South Africa and internationally (<50%).
 
Preferred Skills & Attributes
  • Exposure to slurry pumping, pipeline systems, or bulk materials handling projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/SolidWorks or similar design tools.
  • PMP/PRINCE2 certification or formal project management training.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently or in teams.
