ENDPOINT SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR INTERN

Gijima is recruiting 1 x Endpoint Security Administrator intern for their Cyber Security team at their head office in Midrand.
The criteria is as follows: -
- Candidates must have completed a 3-year degree or diploma in IT (must be relevant to End Point Security). Please note that this is NOT a WIL program
- Candidates must be computer literate and must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet
- Candidates must have no criminal record.
- Candidates must currently be unemployed.
- Candidates must not be participating on another learnership or internship program.
- Candidates must NOT be enrolled at any tertiary institution.
- Candidates must live in Gauteng (preferably in the Midrand area) – relocation is NOT an option.
- Candidates must be under the age of 35 as of 1 August 2025
- Candidates must be a South African Citizen (African, Asian, Indian)
Skills: -
- Technical Skills (Foundational)
- Operating Systems Knowledge
- Basics of Windows, Linux, and macOS security features.
- Understanding of system hardening and patching.
- Endpoint Security Tools (Entry-Level Exposure)
- Antivirus / Anti-malware solutions (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Symantec, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).
- EDR/XDR basics – awareness of what they do (threat detection, isolation, response).
- Networking & Security Basics
- TCP/IP fundamentals, ports, protocols, and how endpoints communicate with networks.
- Awareness of common attack vectors (phishing, ransomware, privilege escalation).
- Security Concepts
- CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
- Incident handling lifecycle (detection, analysis, containment, recovery).
Interpersonal / Soft Skills
- Eagerness to Learn – willingness to pick up new endpoint tools and frameworks.
- Communication Skills – ability to explain issues clearly to senior engineers or non-technical staff.
