BACK UP AND STORAGE INTERN

Gijima is recruiting 1 x Back-up and Storage Intern for their Infrastructure Services department.

The criteria is as follows:-

• Candidates must have completed a 3-year tertiary qualification in IT (i.e. National Diploma or degree) with knowledge of Linux, Unix or Wintel, VMware & Hyper-V and Oracle, MSSQL, DB2)
• International Certifications will be advantageous (VERITAS Netbackup, Hitachi, Brocade)
• Candidates must have no criminal record.
• Candidates must currently be unemployed.
• Candidates must currently NOT be enrolled at a tertiary institution.
• Candidates must not be participating on another learnership or internship program.
• Candidates must live in Gauteng (preferably in the Midrand area) – relocation is NOT an option;
• Candidates must be under the age of 35 as of 01 July 2026
• Candidates must be a South African Citizen (African, Indian and Coloured);

Competencies/Skills Required: -

• Solid network/systems knowledge and understanding of industry standards and practices
• Automation knowledge
• Databases backup and restore knowledge
• Any scripting / programming experience will be an advantage
• Understanding of Service Level Agreements and customer service management

Responsibilities: -

• Install, configure, and maintain organization’s Storage Area Network and Network Attached Storage devices.
• Troubleshoots basic SAN/NAS issues and infrastructure issues
• Monitor, manage, and assess storage resource usage
• Monitor Service Request tickets and/or email requests for assignment and resolve, update and close as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned
