Remuneration: R20000 – R30000, dependent on skill set, knowledge, and experience
Purpose Of The Job:
Our client is seeking a motivated and technically capable Junior High Voltage (HV) Technician to join their growing Electric Vehicle (EV) division. This position is ideal for a qualified technician who already has practical exposure to High Voltage systems and Electric Vehicles and is looking to further develop their career within the rapidly evolving EV and charging infrastructure sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and servicing of electric and hybrid vehicles, while also assisting with EV charging infrastructure projects. Exposure to the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of AC and/or DC charging systems will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:Electric Vehicle Technical Support
- Diagnose, repair, and service Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Hybrid Vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections in accordance with manufacturer standards and specifications
- Conduct High Voltage battery inspections, testing, fault finding, and basic repairs
- Carry out vehicle health checks and diagnostic scans using manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults
- Assist with software updates, calibrations, programming, and system configuration where required
- Complete all repairs accurately, efficiently, and within specified timelines
High Voltage Systems
- Follow all High Voltage safety procedures and industry best practices
- Ensure safe handling and isolation of High Voltage components and systems
- Assist with battery management system diagnostics and repairs
- Maintain compliance with workshop and manufacturer safety standards
EV Charging Infrastructure Support
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of EV charging equipment
- Support the deployment of AC and DC charging solutions
- Assist in fault finding and resolving charging equipment issues
- Work alongside senior technical teams on charger installations and commissioning projects
- Maintain accurate records relating to charger installations, maintenance, and service activities
Administration & Reporting
- Complete job cards, technical reports, inspection sheets, and warranty documentation accurately
- Maintain service records and supporting documentation
- Ensure all work carried out is documented in accordance with company procedures
Continuous Development
- Participate in ongoing technical and manufacturer training programmes
- Stay informed on developments in Electric Vehicle technology, High Voltage systems, battery technology, and charging infrastructure
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills within the EV industry
Requirements:
- Qualified Motor Vehicle Technician Red Seal
- EV and High Voltage Certification
- Minimum 1–3 years' automotive workshop experience in a dealership environment
- Practical experience working with Electric Vehicles (EVs) and/or Hybrid Vehicles
- Proven High Voltage technical experience essential
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical information
- Valid driver's licence
- Computer literate
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
- Motor Industry experience essential
Advantageous Qualifications & Experience:
- Knowledge of battery management systems, charging systems, and electric drivetrains
- Exposure to AC and/or DC charger installation and commissioning
- Experience working with EV charging infrastructure
- Understanding of EV charging standards, protocols, and safety requirements
- Experience with manufacturer diagnostic systems and software updates
- Knowledge of alternative fuel vehicle technologies
