Company Location: Rivonia, Johannesburg - fully remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established HR and Payroll software company (HRIS) forming part of a large group, is looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join their consulting team. This is a unique opportunity for an HR professional who wants to move beyond traditional generalist HR into a specialised, high-impact consulting role — helping other HR professionals get the very best out of their HRIS/HCM systems or an HRIS Implementation consultant looking for a fabulous new company to join working fully remotely. You don't have to be based in Johannesburg!
About the Role
If you love HR are technically inclined and you love making systems work brilliantly for the people using them, this role is for you. You'll sit at the intersection of HR expertise and technology, working directly with client HR teams to understand their business and legislative requirements, translate those into system solutions, and then hand-hold clients through implementation until they're confident, capable, and getting full value from the platform.
You won't just implement a system and walk away — you'll be a trusted advisor who understands HR from the inside, builds real relationships with client HR teams, and ensures they're set up to succeed long after go-live.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Consulting with client HR professionals to understand their HR processes, pain points, and system requirements
  • Advising clients on South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA, Skills Development Act, POPIA) and HR best practice
  • Translating client requirements into effective HRIS/HCM configuration and solutions
  • Leading implementation projects from requirements gathering through to go-live
  • Hand-holding and supporting clients through the change — training users, conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and building their confidence in the system
  • Guiding clients to use the system to its fullest potential, correctly and consistently
  • Assisting clients with Employment Equity and SETA submissions
  • Building long-term, trusted relationships with client HR teams as their go-to HRIS advisor
  • Managing consulting engagements end-to-end, tracking milestones, risks, and deliverables
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce additional products, services, or system enhancements to clients
What Our Client Is Looking For
Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
  • Valid South African Driver's Licence and own reliable vehicle
  • At least 3 years' HR experience, including exposure to labour legislation and HR documentation/policy drafting
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Advantageous:
  • Registration with SABPP or an equivalent professional body
  • Labour Law or Industrial Relations qualification
  • HRIS/HCM system implementation experience
  • Payroll knowledge
  • Basic AI knowledge
  • 5+ years HR consulting experience, ideally supporting multiple external clients
  • Experience in training, facilitation, and project management
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • A genuine interest in strong experience with HR technology and systems, not just HR practice
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — you enjoy figuring out how a system should work for a client's unique needs
  • Excellent communication skills; you can explain technical concepts to non-technical HR users with patience and clarity
  • A natural relationship-builder who clients trust and turn to
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a client-first mindset
  • Adaptability and resilience across multiple concurrent client projects
  • Commitment to confidentiality and continuous learning
Working Conditions
