  • Mining, Automotive and OEM experience essential.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Production Manager will oversee the full production function, ensuring production plans, quality standards, safety requirements and customer expectations are met. The role will drive continuous improvement, efficient resource utilisation and effective team performance.

Minimum requirements:
  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • Relevant Diploma/Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or Project Management.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in Operations or Production Management.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience essential.
  • Mining, Automotive and OEM experience essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge of production processes.
  • Experience with time studies and line balancing.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, Lean or Six Sigma projects advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, workflow and resource management.
  • Experience managing production teams and developing staff.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and change management skills.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Oversee the overall production department and ensure customer, product and quality requirements are achieved.
  • Develop and manage production plans and schedules to meet targets and delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor daily production activities, vehicle flow, output and production performance.
  • Identify and resolve production issues and escalate technical matters when required.
  • Manage production documentation, job cards, work instructions and quality records.
  • Plan and allocate labour, equipment, tooling and materials to maximise production efficiency.
  • Analyse capacity and manpower requirements to meet production demands.
  • Ensure correct tooling is available, calibrated and maintained.
  • Implement new products and production processes and assist with new project development.
  • Lead, supervise and develop production staff through training, performance management and skills development.
  • Maintain and update skills matrices to support multi-skilling and workforce flexibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, waste reduction and process efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to 5S, smooth-flow activities, housekeeping and workplace standards.
  • Ensure production processes comply with safety, quality and industry requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards and the company quality management system.
  • Investigate production problems and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure all vehicle fitments and production activities comply with approved work and fitment instructions.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly production reports, forecasts and performance updates.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Sales, HR, Finance and Operations to achieve production objectives.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and overall production performance.
