ACCOUNTANT

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS: 

• BCom Accounting degree.
• SAIPA registered.
• IFRS experience.
• 4–5 years’ post-articles experience.
• Bilingual (Afrikaans and English).

ROLE OVERVIEW: 
The Accountant will manage key accounting functions, including month-end processes, reconciliations, fixed assets, tax and financial reporting. The role will ensure accurate financial information, strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards.

Minimum requirements:

• BCom degree in Accounting.
• SAIPA registered.
• 4–5 years’ post-articles accounting experience.
• Good knowledge and practical experience with IFRS for SMEs.
• Experience with fixed assets, tax, financial statements, audit preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with an ERP or financial system.
• Knowledge of CaseWare Financial Statements software.
• Good Afrikaans and English communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Execute month-end and year-end processes and prepare GL journals.
• Process provisions, amortisation and closing journals.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and GL accounts.
• Reconcile and manage creditor and debtor accounts.
• Review payments, bank transactions and cash reconciliations.
• Manage bank, credit card and debit order administration.
• Monitor cash flow and perform relevant reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed asset register for accounting and tax purposes.
• Calculate depreciation and capitalise projects in progress. Coordinate fixed asset counts and review useful lives, residual values and accounting assumptions.
• Assist with tax compliance and statutory submissions.
• Prepare annual financial statements and audit documentation.
• Support the annual external audit process.
• Prepare Statistics South Africa returns.
• Assist with budgets and financial projections.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal policies and financial controls.
• Identify financial risks and assist with corrective action.
• Assist with improving financial processes and systems.
• Provide support to operational departments on financial queries.
