Our client in the mining/engineering/production industry is seeking an Rigger, to join their team Phalaborwa, Limpopo.

Purpose of the position:
  • To eliminate the risk of injury, incident or equipment damage by providing the specialize knowledge required when lifting and/or maneuvering abnormal or heavy objects.                                                                          
Qualifications:                                                            
  • N3-N6  & Trade test as qualified Rigger.                            
  • Computer literacy: MS Office and maintenance-based MS software programmes.
Experience:
  • 3-5  years relevant hands-on experience in a mining environment.           
  • Knowledge:  In rigging and lifting related tasks; mobile crane operation (Minimum 130 tons), overhead crane operation (Minimum 110 tons) and in the inspection, repair and maintenance of lifting tackle and -equipment. 
Responsibilities:
  • Skillfully execute the tasks of the trade Rigger in a mining and industrial plant environment. 
  • Supervise, assisting and providing guidance in  the lifting of any object requiring the specialised knowledge provided by a qualified rigger.
  • As required, provide on the job training and guidance to all maintenance or production employees in the correct and safe use of lifting machines and equipment. 
  • Ensure that lifting equipment is inspected, used and maintained in a correct and safe manner. 
  • Carry out standby duties and attend to breakdowns and call-outs. 
  • Effective (Time and quality) completion of tasks. 
  • Man / operate mobile lifting equipment (Mobile- and Carry-Deck cranes) when required. 
  • Equipment inspections and identification of irregularities and/or potential improvements. 
  • Inter departmental communication and collaboration. 
  • Cost control. 
  • Maintaining effective line communication. 
  • Carry out any required job administration tasks. 
  • Ensuring that the highest safety, health, environmental and loss control standards are kept. Maintain good labour relationships. 
  • Training and own development. 
  • Carry out workshop supervisor duties from time-to-time.
