Junior Atttormey - Criminal Law and Protection Orders
Kempton Park, Gauteng
Salary: R20,000ctc - R30,000ctc

A well-established law firm is looking for a recently admitted / junior Attorney to join their Criminal Law & Protection Orders Department.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for criminal matters and Protection Order proceedings, with a strong focus on court appearances, client consultations and managing allocated matters.

Minimum requirements:

• LLB degree
• Admitted Attorney / recently admitted Attorney eligible to practise
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Valid driver’s licence and confident driver
• Willing to travel to courts, police stations and detention facilities, including outlying areas
• Strong communication, organisational and administrative skills
• Able to work independently and under pressure
• Computer literate

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend court and represent clients in criminal and Protection Order matters
• Handle bail applications, appearances, trials and related Magistrates’ Court proceedings
• Consult with clients and obtain instructions
• Prepare matters and court documentation
• Manage allocated files, caseload and court diary
• Liaise with prosecutors, investigating officers, court personnel, opposing attorneys and counsel
• Keep clients and senior attorneys updated on matters
• Maintain accurate file and case records
• Record fees, attendances and billable work
