Our client in the Northam area, requires the services of a Fleet / Diesel Mechanic with at least 2 years' experience on Scania servicing.

Requirements
- Qualified diesel mechanic or equivalent trade certification.
- Experience working on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet management.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Experience with mining, bulk haulage, or long-distance transport fleets is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license (heavy vehicle license advantageous).
- Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns when required

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and braking system faults.
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, axles, and trailer components.
- Respond to breakdowns and unplanned maintenance requirements.
- Monitor wear-and-tear items such as tyres, brakes, suspension components, wheel bearings, and trailer running gear.
- Maintain service records and maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with drivers regarding reported defects and repair requirements.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety and roadworthiness regulations.
- Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance consumables.
- Liaise with external service providers when specialized repairs are required.
