Our client in the Northam area, requires the services of a Fleet / Diesel Mechanic with at least 2 years' experience on Scania servicing.

Requirements

• Qualified diesel mechanic or equivalent trade certification.
• Experience working on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet management.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Experience with mining, bulk haulage, or long-distance transport fleets is advantageous.
• Valid driver's license (heavy vehicle license advantageous). 
• Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns when required

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and braking system faults.
• Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, axles, and trailer components.
• Respond to breakdowns and unplanned maintenance requirements.
• Monitor wear-and-tear items such as tyres, brakes, suspension components, wheel bearings, and trailer running gear.
• Maintain service records and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate with drivers regarding reported defects and repair requirements.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with safety and roadworthiness regulations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance consumables.
• Liaise with external service providers when specialized repairs are required.
