GROUP FACILITIES MANAGER
Cape Town – Constantia Winelands: My client, an award-winning collection of luxury 5-star Hotels and Spas, is seeking to appoint an experienced and strategic Group Facilities Manager to oversee the engineering, maintenance, facilities and infrastructure operations across its exclusive portfolio of hospitality properties. Purpose of the Role: The Group Facilities Manager will provide strategic leadership of the engineering, maintenance, facilities and infrastructure functions across the collection's luxury hospitality properties. The successful incumbent will ensure that all properties are maintained to the highest operational and presentation standards through the effective management of preventative maintenance programmes, capital improvement projects, statutory compliance, contractor performance and engineering teams. This role is instrumental in supporting exceptional guest experiences by ensuring the seamless operation of all building services and facilities.
Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the engineering, maintenance and facilities operations across the collection's luxury hospitality properties
- Develop, implement and continuously improve preventative and planned maintenance programmes and procedures
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements and ensure the prompt resolution of operational issues
- Ensure the optimal performance, reliability and longevity of all building services, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and general infrastructure systems
- Manage contractors and external service providers, negotiating service agreements and ensuring work is completed to the required standards, within budget and agreed timeframes
- Oversee refurbishment projects, renovations and capital improvement initiatives from planning through to completion
- Prepare, manage and monitor operational maintenance budgets, capital expenditure projects and asset registers
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, fire regulations, environmental standards and all mandatory inspections and certification requirements
- Monitor utility consumption and implement cost-saving and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency
- Lead, mentor and develop engineering and maintenance teams across the portfolio of properties
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs and implement succession planning initiatives
- Work closely with senior management to support the ongoing enhancement and preservation of the collection's luxury standards
Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 years' senior management experience within facilities management or engineering across multiple sites, preferably within the luxury hospitality industry
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience planning, implementing and managing preventative and reactive maintenance programmes
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and general building infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience managing refurbishment, renovation and capital improvement projects
- Strong project management, organisational and budget management skills
- Sound knowledge of statutory compliance, Occupational Health and Safety legislation and building regulations
- Computer literate with strong administrative and reporting capabilities
- Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills
- A proactive, solutions-driven and hands-on management style
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure within a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Flexible and willing to work shifts when operationally required
