A boutique bush lodge in a private nature reserve in the Greater Kruger is seeking an experienced and driven LODGE MANAGER to lead its team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality professional who thrives in a remote, wildlife-rich setting. The successful candidate will join in January and help get the lodge ready for its April opening, setting up systems from scratch and running the property to five-star standards.

Core Criteria:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a luxury lodge setting
• Pre-opening experience highly advantageous, with proven ability to set up operational systems
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, stock control and order administration
• Excellent management, communication and staff development skills
• Exceptional Food and Beverage knowledge, with strong awareness of dietary requirements and allergens
• Sound understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures
• High standards of service excellence and a genuine passion for hospitality
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general internet applications
• Excellent English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking)
• Assertive, patient, organised and calm under pressure, with a solution-oriented approach
• Stable employment history with contactable references

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead pre-opening preparations and ensure the lodge is guest-ready for April
• Develop, implement and refine operational systems and standard operating procedures
• Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the lodge once open
• Oversee guest relations, ensuring service and presentation standards are consistently upheld
• Set up and manage the bookings and reservation system
• Manage budgets, stock control and ordering
• Recruit, manage and mentor lodge staff, building a motivated and capable team
• Oversee housekeeping, maintenance and garden standards
• Build and maintain the guest database and oversee seamless concierge and reception functions
• Uphold the lodge’s design and style across all areas
• Support the property’s conservation ethos
• Resolve operational challenges proactively while staying calm under pressure

On Offer:

• Salary: R18,000 to R20,000 per month
• Live-in position
• Start date: January (lodge opens in April)
