A family is looking for an Educational Au Pair and Family Assistant

DUTIES:
School & Daily Routine Management: Prepare the child for school, including breakfast, dressing, lunchboxes and school bags. Manage school calendars, notices, events, assignments and supplies, coordinate extra-murals and transport, and ensure the following day is organised. Assist with hygiene and daily routines as needed.
Educational Development & Childcare: Plan engaging, age-appropriate educational activities, creative play and outdoor experiences. Support literacy, numeracy, school readiness and social-emotional development while encouraging independence, confidence and curiosity. Incorporate Montessori-inspired principles where possible, maintain positive discipline and adapt to more structured home-based learning if required.
Child-Related Household Responsibilities: Prepare healthy meals, snacks and lunchboxes, manage the child's laundry and wardrobe, and keep their bedroom, playroom, toys and learning materials organized. Monitor essential supplies and assist with playdates, appointments and activity planning.
Household & Family Assistance: During school hours, assist with grocery shopping, errands, household stock, appointments, deliveries, family administration and basic pet care. Coordinate with other household staff and help maintain an organized household routine. Responsibilities may increase when the family is away and the candidate remains at home. The focus is on childcare, education and family assistance rather than general cleaning or domestic housekeeping.
Additional Responsibilities: Provide occasional babysitting or weekend assistance by prior arrangement, travel with the family when required, including internationally, and adapt to changing family schedules and schooling arrangements.
Special Requirements: Female - patient, kind, emotionally mature and a positive role model who sets gentle but firm boundaries. They must be proactive, reliable, organized and trustworthy, with a genuine love for children, an engaging approach to learning and play, and respect for family privacy. Confident in handling strong personalities. Preference will be given to candidates with educational background.  Afrikaans and/or Xitsonga (Tsonga/Shangaan) would be beneficial.

Start date: ASAP – Permanent
Salary (remainder of 2026): R14 500 - R15 000 (Gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95)
Salary (January 2027 onwards): R23 000 – R25 000pm (Gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95)
 
All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:
**** Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
****Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
****Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
****Must have a clear criminal record
****Must have a passion for children
****Must have Matric
****Must have a South African ID document.
