George /Wilderness Area – Western Cape: Our client is seeking an experienced and skilled Dairy Manager to oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of the dairy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modern dairy practices, herd management, and milk production, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency are maintained.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•  Agricultural Diploma / Degree advantageous
• Minimum 4 years dairy experience
• Dairy Management experience essential
• Minimum of 1 year pasture management experience
• Rotary dairy experience essential
• Ability to motivate and work with a team
• Ability to follow already established systems in place
• Strong record of management skills
• Hard-working, deadline-driven, diligent
• Accurate, organised and demonstrates initiative
• Be prepared to work overtime
• Passion for working with animals

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

•  Oversee and monitor milking, machine, and tank washing.
• Ensure the dairy is operating to standard.
• Pasture management of successful planting season through allocating, irrigating, farm cover, residual, soil, and plant health.
• Calf rearing and calving successfully rearing calves and managing a calving season.
• Cow comfort, condition, feeding, health, AI season, breeding results and stockmanship.
• Infrastructure and machinery including setting some maintenance schedules and overseeing farm assets.
• Track and report farm performance metrics, including milk production, herd health, and pasture utilization.
