JUNIOR STOREMAN / ADMINISTRATOR

Somerset West: My client, an established adventure tourism company, is seeking a reliable and hands-on Junior Storeman / Administrator to join their workshop and stores team.

This is an entry-level opportunity suited to someone with previous exposure to stores, stock control, retail, warehousing, workshop or automotive environments, who is looking to develop their skills and grow within a busy operational environment.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:  To assist with the efficient day-to-day running of the storeroom, ensuring accurate stock control, administration and availability of workshop spares, tools and equipment, while providing practical support to the workshop and operations teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day organisation and control of the storeroom
  • Receiving and issuing workshop spares, tools and equipment
  • Maintaining accurate stock records and capturing stock movements on Pastel
  • Conducting regular stock counts and reconciling physical stock against system records
  • Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies
  • Maintaining general stores and stock-control administration
  • Assisting with vehicle licence and registration administration
  • Providing practical support to the workshop and operations teams
  • Moving, handling and organising tools, equipment, spares and other stock as required
CRITERIA:
  • Previous exposure to a stores, stock-control, retail, warehouse, workshop or similar environment
  • Good working knowledge of Pastel
  • Good computer literacy, including Excel, Word, email and internet
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping/accounting principles
  • Valid Code 8 driver's licence
  • Own reliable transport
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Reliable, trustworthy and hardworking
  • Hands-on and practical approach, with the ability to work comfortably in a busy workshop environment
  • Physically able and willing to move and handle tools, equipment and stock when required
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans (read, speak and write)
  • A mechanical, technical, automotive parts, workshop or fleet background will be advantageous
This is an ideal opportunity for a junior candidate with approximately 1–3 years' relevant experience who is eager to learn, take initiative and develop within the business.

The successful candidate should be practical, energetic, reliable and willing to get involved, rather than looking for a purely desk-based administrative position.
