The Coal Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of coal mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This includes planning and coordinating activities, managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and meeting production targets

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet operational and market demands
  • Monitor daily production activities to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Analyze operational data and adjust plans to optimize output

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations
  • Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety audits
  • Investigate and report incidents, implementing corrective actions

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and manage production staff, including miners, engineers, and support teams
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and mentor employees to enhance skills and performance
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace environment

Resource and Equipment Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of mining equipment and machinery
  • Plan and allocate resources, including manpower and materials, to ensure uninterrupted operations

Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for production operations
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare production reports, forecasts, and performance analysis for senior management
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and compliance activities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in mining safety and operations (e.g., Mine manager’s Certificate) will be advantageous
  • Minimum of 10 years in coal mining operations, with at least 6 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience with underground or surface mining methods
  • Strong knowledge of coal mining processes and technologies
  • Familiarity with mining software and equipment maintenance systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting and cost management
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex problems
