Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.
About the YES Initiative
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

Position: HR Administrator Intern

Stipend:  R7,500

Location: Gauteng (Fourways)
About the role
To provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department, assisting in daily HR functions, staff file maintenance, recruitment coordination, and compliance with company policies, particularly relating to security personnel management.


Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding Support
  • Assist in posting job ads for security guards and administrative roles.
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with shortlisted candidates.
  • Assist in conducting reference and background checks (e.g., criminal records, PSIRA verification).
  • Prepare onboarding packs including employment contracts and induction materials.
  • Support with orientation sessions for new recruits.
HR Compliance & Policy Enforcement
  • Ensure new hires complete mandatory documents (e.g., confidentiality agreements, code of conduct).
  • Assist in enforcing clock-in and shift attendance policies in coordination with Operations.
  • Keep updated registers for firearm permits and uniform issues.
Staff Records & Filing
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records both electronically and in hard copy.
  • File PSIRA documents, ID copies, contracts, leave forms, and disciplinary records.
  • Assist in tracking expiry dates of security certifications and renewals.
Leave & Absenteeism Monitoring
  • Help monitor and record staff leave (sick, annual, family responsibility).
  • Notify supervisors of repeated absenteeism and prepare preliminary reports.
Performance & Disciplinary Support
  • Assist with performance appraisal preparation (e.g., forms, staff reminders).
  • Document disciplinary hearings and file records under supervision.
  • Prepare first drafts of warning letters as instructed.
Employee Welfare & Engagement
  • Assist in organizing HR wellness activities and staff engagement events.
  • Maintain birthday and service anniversary lists.
General HR Admin
  • Prepare HR-related reports as required.
  • Assist with monthly HR checklists and compliance check-ins.
  • Attend HR team meetings and take minutes when required.
Expected Learning Outcomes
  • Understand HR processes in a regulated security environment.
  • Gain hands-on experience with compliance, staffing, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Develop administrative, communication, and reporting skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
  • Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
  • Matric.
  • HR Qualification.
