Finance Manager / Manager: Financial Accounting

Are you a strategic finance professional who enjoys being hands-on while leading a high-performing finance function? Our client is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to partner closely with the CFO and take ownership of the full financial operations of a well-established business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing operational excellence with strategic financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and consolidations in accordance with IFRS.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and treasury activities.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and maintain robust financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and related SARS submissions.
  • Manage payroll and employee tax processes.
  • Coordinate annual audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed asset accounting.
  • Manage credit insurance, rebates, incentives and insurance portfolios.
  • Strengthen internal controls, governance and financial best practices across the business.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to the finance team.

What We're Looking For

  • CA(SA) preferred.
  • Alternatively, completed BCom Honours in Financial Accounting or Financial Management.
  • Completed articles with a recognised audit firm.
  • SAICA or ACCA membership would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance or financial accounting management role.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, South African tax legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with payroll, audit preparation and SARS eFiling requirements.
  • Exposure to CIPC and company secretarial matters.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP Business One highly advantageous) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exposure to standard costing and FIFO inventory accounting will be highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and South African labour legislation is advantageous.
