SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – MANUFACTURING / MULTI-NATIONAL EXPERIENCE
A well-established manufacturing organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Pretoria.
This is a hands-on role suited to an accountant who is comfortable taking ownership of the numbers, driving accuracy and strengthening financial processes — while also bringing genuine international / multi-jurisdictional accounting experience.The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad range of accounting and financial reporting activities, working closely with senior management and supporting sound commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes and deadlines
- Preparing and analysing management accounts, financial reports and profitability information
- Providing financial analysis, variance commentary and meaningful management information
- Managing month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Taking ownership of full balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring reconciling items are resolved
- Reviewing journals, intercompany transactions and accounting entries
- Overseeing debtors and creditors processing and resolving escalated queries
- Reviewing payroll information for accuracy prior to processing
- Ensuring compliance across revenue, costs, project accounting and work-in-progress
- Supporting statutory compliance, audit preparation and financial governance
- Contributing to the strengthening of internal controls and accounting processes
- Identifying inefficiencies and implementing improved processes and procedures
- Working with outsourced/local accounting teams where applicable
- Supporting the review and consolidation of financial results across multiple international jurisdictions
- Using financial systems, Excel and technology to improve reporting, controls and efficiencies
Minimum Requirements
- CA(SA) with a minimum of 3 years' post-articles operational finance experience, OR
- A qualified accountant with 10+ years' hands-on accounting experience, completed audit articles, a BCom Accounting degree and SAICA membership
- Proven international or multi-jurisdictional accounting experience – ESSENTIAL
- Experience working across different regulatory, tax and accounting environments
- Strong experience with full balance sheet reconciliations
- Multi-entity and intercompany accounting/consolidation experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
- Working knowledge of South African statutory requirements, including Companies Act, CIPC, VAT and income tax
- Experience producing management reports, financial analysis and reporting packs
- Strong ERP experience
- Advanced Excel skills, including formula-based reconciliations and controls
- Experience overseeing or reviewing debtors and creditors functions
- Experience working with outsourced accounting providers would be advantageous
- Exposure to AI-enabled accounting/finance tools and automation will be beneficial
