Retail concern, based in the South of Johannesburg, is looking for a Junior Financial Manager to join their team. This is a succession planning role in which the successful incumbent will be primed for further growth within the company. A phenomenal opportunity for candidates looking for career growth!
PURPOSE:
To oversee the day to day account, tax, administration and financial management and to ensure the completion of accurate and timely financial accounting and management reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BCom Accounting/ similar
  • Honours in Accounting/ similar
  • Completed SAICA Articles + 3 - 5 years commercial experience
  • OR a newly qualified CA(SA)
*The following duties will be done in Assistance to the Financial Manager:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage an accounts team, or playing a part in the overall management of the company.
  • Assist with finance staff training and development to ensure that the team has up-to-date awareness and knowledge of best practice and financial matters
  • Ensure financial team follows the Fair Price policies and regulations
  • Examining accounts of internal systems (Auditing) or providing information for external auditors
  • Preparation of individual entity management accounts within reporting deadlines
  • Responsible for preparing the necessary month end journals (Debits and Credits)
  • Perform financial analysis, reporting and management activities
  • Ensure that the financial reports are prepared and delivered on time
  • Review financial data for accuracy, correctness and completeness
  • Prepare relevant and accurate monthly management accounts for submission to the relevant stakeholders including the CFO, executive management team, as well as address any queries raised
  • Review the effectiveness of the accounting and reporting systems on an ongoing basis, to identify areas for enhancement or improvement
  • Monitor and manage all expenses within the allotted budgets
  • Assist in account payable and receivable activities
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliation activities
  • Providing commentary and analysis of month on month movements
  • Comply with and keeping up to date with all the relevant tax laws and regulations and finance and finance related regulations, guidelines and codes of best practice
  • VAT reconciliation preparation and submission of VAT returns for entities
  • Dealing with the SA Revenue Services (SARS)
- Writing of and filing of objections, as and when required, for all entities across all the various taxes (PAYE, vat, AND INCOME TAX)
- Correspondence with SARS relating to taxation matters involving the Group, including Verifications and Audits
- E-filing which includes VAT, EMP’s, provisional tax, income tax and tax returns, etc.
- Maintenance of fixed asset registers
- Facilitate the annual audit and preparation of schedules and reconciliations
  • Manage compliance with all relevant SARS registrations and requirements (monthly, bi-annually, and annually)
  • Manage compliance with all relevant CIPC registrations and filing requirements
  • Provide organisational staff with efficient and effective support/assistance from the finance department
  • During a colleagues leave of absence from the company or during peak month end or pak business periods, you may be required to perform other job tasks upon reasonable request from your line manager
