Opportunity Available!! Our well known client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Process Technician to join their team in Pretoria
Functional Definition:
  • Set up machines and tools using the setting sheet for the part/s
  • Trouble shooting. Set injection moulding machine using the process work instruction as guide.
  • Set up and optimise the process settings on an injection moulding machine and the tooling (Hot runner system, sequential gating system and all ancillary equipment) to achieve a part quality level as required by a boundary or acceptable part sample.
  • Strong Leaderships qualities required for the position to guide Setters.
 
Job Description
  • Follow the daily Production Plan for the changing of tools or instruction from Planner.
  • Responsible for trouble shooting and fault finding in the injection moulding process in moulding plant
  • Correct process related problems that cannot be solved by setters
  • Liase with Process Engineering on machine, tool and process related issues or improvements
  • Conduct run @ rate / mass production trials with customers and project team
  • Training and development of setters and assistant setters
  • Set up of assembly stations and poke yoke equipment in plant
  • Conduct production tool trials to set up existing tooling on different machines
  • Set up new tooling with Process Engineering department during launch
  • Process verification on machines to confirm that setters are following procedures and settings sheets
  • Create setting sheets
  • Complete all technical process related documentation
  • Start-up machines at the beginning of the shift when required.
  • Have a good understanding of materials knowledge of processing parameters and settings
  • Ensure that the tools are put into the correctly allocated machine as per plan.
  • Installation of the tool into machine must be done within the allocated time.
  • Correctly fit all water and hydraulic hoses as per setting as per setting sheet for the part/s.
  • Resolve any Quality related part problems which vary from the accepted boundary sample.
  • Understand and start up the robot where applicable
  • Obtaining first off approval prior to commencement of Production.
  • Authorising the COC for the part by way of signature.
  • Authorising and completion of start- up checklist and in process monitoring sheets
  • Placement of non - running tools in the correct area with the last off positioned on top.
  • Attend to and resolve any non - conformances related to Quality or escalate problems.
  • Carry out problem escalation procedure when M/C or tool problems occur.
  • Report back and engage with management on all injection moulding process related issues in plant
  • Ensure and maintain 4S activities are carried out in your working areas.
  • Follow the safety rules.
  • Ensure effective communication with other shifts to ensure smooth running of plant.
  • Have basic working knowledge of IATF 16949 with regards to Quality and Process requirements. Basic understanding of work instruction, production control plan, PFMEA and Process Flow Charts
  • Be a Team player with regards to Process and Production departments.
 
 
Minimum Qualification and Experience
  • Matric
  • NQF level 4 in Setting Plastics Injection Moulding and /or
  • 5 years in a setting role in a plastic injection moulding environment
  • Experience on Engel, Krauss Maffei and Hiatian machines
  • Experience with start-up of robots
  • Extensive experience with hot runner, sequential valve gating tooling with hydraulic cores
  • Experience and knowledge of raw material processing and preparation
  • Processing of automotive components
