We are recruiting an experienced General Financial Manager to lead the financial strategy, treasury, financial control, risk management and commercial finance functions of a commodity trading business based in Pretoria.

This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to a commercially focused finance professional with extensive experience in commodity trading, trade finance, treasury, working capital, foreign exchange and financial risk management. 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
• CA(SA), ACCA, CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification preferred
• Approximately 15+ years of progressive finance experience
• Significant senior finance leadership experience
• Proven experience within commodity trading, energy, mining, metals, shipping or another working-capital-intensive trading environment
• Extensive treasury and trade finance exposure
• Strong experience with FX, commodity derivatives, hedging and financial risk
• Strong understanding of credit and counterparty risk
• Strong commercial and strategic orientation 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the group financial strategy
• Partner with the CEO, Board and commercial leadership
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
• Oversee commodity trading P&L, margins, inventory and working capital
• Manage treasury, liquidity and trade-finance structures
• Oversee banking facilities, letters of credit and funding arrangements
• Manage FX, commodity-price, interest-rate, liquidity and counterparty risk
• Ensure strong financial controls, governance and regulatory compliance
• Lead financial reporting, external audits and tax matters
• Build and lead a high-performing finance team
• Drive finance automation and reporting improvements
