General Foreman / Senior Foreman – Building Construction | Cape Town

A well-established and highly regarded building contractor is seeking an experienced General Foreman / Senior Foreman to join their team in Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record managing building projects from site establishment through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of construction activities on site.
• Lead and manage Foremen, subcontractors, tradesmen and site teams.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure efficient sequencing of works.
• Monitor productivity, materials, plant and resources.
• Interpret and work from construction drawings, specifications and programmes.
• Liaise closely with the Site Agent, Contracts Manager, Project Manager and professional team.
• Identify and resolve construction challenges proactively.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and site discipline.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Monitor progress against project programmes and report on potential delays.
• Assist with quality control, snagging and project close-out.

Requirements

• 10+ years' experience within the building construction industry.
• Proven experience as a General Foreman, Senior Foreman or equivalent senior site position.
• Strong experience on commercial, residential, retail, industrial or similar building projects.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and site operations.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and engineering drawings.
• Strong subcontractor and workforce management skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding project deadlines.
• Relevant construction qualification will be advantageous.
