SAFETY OFFICER Cape Town | Building & Construction Projects

A leading building contractor is seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to oversee health and safety compliance across building projects throughout Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain health & safety standards across construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Construction Regulations and relevant legislation.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure safe working practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks, inductions and safety training.
• Maintain safety files, registers, reports and required documentation.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Liaise with site management, contractors and relevant authorities.

Requirements

• SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer is essential.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Safety Officer on building/construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Experience working on building projects and managing subcontractor compliance.
• Excellent communication, administration and reporting skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Ability to work across multiple construction sites throughout Cape Town.
