Quantity Surveyor – School Building Projects | Cape Town

A leading Cape Town-based building contractor is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and work on exciting school building and education-sector construction projects across Cape Town.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of assigned building projects, ensuring costs are controlled and projects are delivered within budget.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage project costs from inception through to completion
• Prepare and manage BOQs, valuations, payment certificates and final accounts
• Monitor project budgets, expenditure and cash flow
• Manage variations, claims and contractual matters
• Measure and value construction work completed
• Conduct subcontractor procurement, adjudication and commercial negotiations
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments
• Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts
• Identify commercial risks and implement cost-control measures
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Agent and construction team
• Ensure accurate project documentation and commercial records are maintained

Requirements

• Relevant BSc/BTech Quantity Surveying qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ Quantity Surveying experience in building construction
• Experience on school, education, commercial or public-sector building projects will be highly advantageous
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures
• Experience managing subcontractors and project costs
• Proficient in MS Excel and relevant QS/construction software
• Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and meet strict project deadlines
• SACQSP registration or candidate registration would be advantageous
• Valid driver’s licence
