A leading Cape Town building contractor is seeking an experienced Building Foreman to take responsibility for the day-to-day management, coordination and supervision of school building projects across Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who can confidently lead subcontractors, coordinate site activities and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead subcontractors across all stages of the project.
  • Coordinate daily site activities and ensure construction programmes are maintained.
  • Supervise workmanship, quality and productivity on site.
  • Ensure subcontractors have the correct resources, materials and information to complete their work.
  • Coordinate trades and prevent clashes and delays between subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress against programme and report potential delays.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and ensure work complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Enforce health and safety requirements and site rules.
  • Manage site housekeeping, access and general site organisation.
  • Liaise with the Site Agent, Project Manager, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate daily site records and progress reports.
  • Assist with inspections, snagging and project close-out.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience as a Building Foreman on building projects.
  • Proven experience managing and leading multiple subcontractors.
  • Experience on school, education, commercial, institutional or similar building projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction methods and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage pressure and meet demanding project deadlines.
  • Reliable, organised and proactive approach to site management.
  • Relevant construction qualifications will be advantageous.
