Job Title

Senior CNC Operator (5-Axis Woodworking)
Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town
Seeking  Ideal candidates that have hands-on experience operating CNC woodworking machinery within furniture manufacturing, shopfitting, cabinetry, boating, or timber production environments. Experience with timber cutting, wood machining, and precision woodworking processes is highly preferred.
Candidates from reputable furniture manufacturing companies  or similar woodworking and manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
Applicants with CNC metalworking experience may also be considered; however, preference will be given to candidates with direct woodworking and timber machining experience.

Role of this applicant is to independently manage and operate a 5-axis CNC woodworking machine,
ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and oversee 5-axis CNC machines
  • Interpret technical drawings and translate them into machining processes
  • Perform machine programming and adjustments where required
  • Ensure high precision and quality standards are consistently met
  • Troubleshoot machine and production issues
  • Optimize machine performance and workflow
  • Train and guide junior operators
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance checks

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years CNC operating experience
  • At least 2 years experience on 3-axis CNC machines
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Advantageous Skills

  • Experience with 5-axis CNC machinery (preferred but not essential)
  • CAD/CAM software experience
  • Experience in woodworking or furniture manufacturing (advantageous)
  • Exposure to metal CNC environments
