Site Engineer / Junior Contracts Manager Salt River, Cape Town | Building Contractor

Are you a motivated Site Engineer looking to take the next step in your construction career? Our client, a respected medium-sized building contractor, is looking to appoint a proactive Site Engineer / Junior Contracts Manager to support the Contracts Director and assist in delivering a variety of commercial and residential building projects valued between R1 million and R15 million.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Contracts Director with the day-to-day management of construction projects.
• Work closely with Site Managers and Foremen to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate short-term planning and construction activities.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and other members of the professional team.
• Follow up on outstanding information and technical queries.
• Assist with the procurement and ordering of materials, plant and equipment.
• Coordinate subcontractors and chair subcontractor coordination meetings.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Ensure Health & Safety documentation is up to date and that all site personnel comply with project H&S requirements.
• Work alongside the Site Quantity Surveyor to monitor project costs and ensure site cost allowables are achieved.

Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Building.
• 2-5 years' experience on building construction projects.
• Good understanding of construction drawings and site coordination.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with site teams and professional consultants.
• Own reliable transport is essential.
