Minimum Requirements:
Doctoral qualification in any of the disciplines in Social Sciences and Humanities
Minimum Associate Professor academic rank level
At least five (5) years’ experience in research and teaching in higher education sector
At least three (3) years in a leadership position in an academic environment
Extensive DHET- accredited research publication track record commensurate with the academic rank level
Knowledge of the Faculty’s higher degrees qualifications; and the University’s research and internationalization policy, rules and regulations
Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision, especially in Doctoral Degrees
Evidence of fundraising and generating external research grants
Evidence of experience in report writing
Responsibilities include:
Duties pertaining to the Deputy Dean post will be performed in addition to those pertaining to the incumbent’s substantive / primary position in the University
The incumbent will assist the Dean of the Faculty in relation to all matters that may be referred to him/her by the Dean; especially matters related research, community engagement and internationalization activities
These duties will include liaising with all Heads of Departments in order to collect information relating to research, postgraduate, community engagement and internationalization activities
He/she will then report these activities in writing to all relevant Faculty and University committees
His/her duties will include chairing and/or attendance of all relevant Faculty and University research, postgraduate, community engagement and internationalization meetings

A Master’s degree in Economics with a minimum average of 70% or higher with exposure to Transport Economics or Econometrics/Quantitative Economics or Data Analytics

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Participate in curriculum design and implementation of newly accredited programmes.
Attract funding and conduct research in the field of economics
Supervise postgraduate research
Participate in public engagement activities within the department
Academic administration and citizenship
Successful candidate is expected to complete or make substantial progress towards completion of his or her PhD studies during the NGAP contract period
If the candidate has a PhD, they will be expected to publish peer-reviewed journal articles

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Administer all grants/ donation and cost centres for the faculty
Prepare appointment forms and collation of all letters of appointment and acceptance for contractual employees.
Reconciliation of all monthly claims and salary payments for the contractual employees.
Checking the correctness of the positions on ITS for the Faculty
Preparation, development and submission of budgets and procurement plans for all Departments and Projects
Completion of requisitions for project payments
Maintain General Ledger for all cost centres and projects
Monthly reconciliation of all GL’s on ITS to balance with Excel reports
Preparation of Financial Report for the funders
Preparation of all documentation for Supply Chain, quotations and forms
Reconciliation of Bursaries paid to students paid by funders
Prepare financial template for DHET and send to auditors
Liaise with auditors for the CTG Student Enrolment audit – prepare the report for submission to auditors
Attend to all audit queries
Present procurement risks for all cost centres and projects
